• Elder Rights Project – Legal Assistance for Victims of Elder Abuse • Municipal Court Defense Project (Milwaukee) – Legal Assistance for Persons Hearing Cases in Milwaukee Municipal Court SeniorLAW provides free legal aid to Milwaukee County residents 60 years of age or older. Performance specialists provide legal advice and lawyers are represented in relevant court proceedings. • SeniorLAW – Legal Aid for Milwaukee County Residents Aged 60+ We provide high-quality, personalized legal service to every client we serve. We also focus on legal work with a broader scope that targets systemic changes that help more people achieve a decent quality of life. Most commonly, SeniorLAW addresses these types of legal issues: At the EDP, eligible clients can get FREE legal assistance for their evictions, including: • Human Trafficking Project – Legal Aid for Victims of Human Trafficking Lawsuit from Wisconsin and Wisconsin Judicare invites proposals from academics, researchers, reviewers, or others interested in providing information on the concerns of low-income individuals regarding their civil law problems. Legal Action and Judicare will provide funding and contract with one or more researchers to collaborate with us on a creative and thoughtful assessment of the landscape in which our legal services programs operate. Wisconsin`s Eviction Defense Project (EDP) Legal Action is a FREE legal aid for low-income tenants facing eviction. We believe that everyone deserves to be treated with fairness and respect and to fight for what is fair and equitable, no matter how difficult or complex it is. We believe that access to justice is an important civic issue and the right to counsel in civil proceedings. We believe that everyone deserves the best possible legal representation, regardless of their ability to pay. We serve clients nationally from six offices with nearly 80 experienced lawyers, and we have hundreds of volunteer lawyers who provide thousands of hours of civil law services each year. We can only accept family law cases if they are referred by the Sojourner Truth Family Peace Center. Most commonly, our Housing Priority Committee deals with cases where landlords and housing authorities violate laws and regulations in the following areas: • Consumer law – collections, foreclosure, payday and auto title loans, seizure and bankruptcy Our priority areas of activity and special projects include: health services and programs, family law, housing law, licensing, criminal records and employment, elder law, migrant workers, social security, and the DOS Project. The EDP has locations in Milwaukee and Dane counties: People over 60: Milwaukee County Seniors can come to our Milwaukee office on Tuesday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. or Thursday afternoons from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This lack of justice threatens the most basic human needs of many low-income people: food, shelter, health care and personal safety. • Legal Reintegration Services Program – assistance in obtaining disability benefits and health insurance for people with disabilities upon release from prison Tenants are encouraged to seek assistance from the EDP by contacting Heidi as soon as possible after filing the eviction file. Tenants can also come on Tuesdays, but must arrive at least one hour before the scheduled hearing date. Whether or not the BDP can take over the file depends on the applicant`s eligibility and the capacity of the project at the time the tenant requests services. government benefits (W-2, child care assistance, food stamps, kinship care and other benefits); health insurance (BadgerCare, Title 19 or Medicaid); and SSI/SSD-I Rejections: Potential clients with a government benefits issue can come to our Milwaukee office on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. We also see clients receiving government benefits at the 16th Street Community Health Centre.
